It takes a lot of energy to remove heat from water to freeze it. Utilize the cold overflow water from your ice maker or snow separation. Instead of considering this as just a cost of doing business find ways to use it to your advantage. Here are some ways to save:

• Plumb it back to your cooling tower or condenser to help reduce head pressure

• Use a heat exchanger and pump to decrease the temperature of incoming make up water to your ice maker.

• Circulate it through a “port-a-cooler” or traditional evaporator to cool an engine room or maintenance shop.
